Omar Sultan Al Olama: Empowering youth with future skills boost their employability prospects in the job market

His Excellency Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications stressed the importance of developing young national cadres, enhancing their practical experiences and skills, supporting their innovative ideas, and preparing them to meet the requirements of future jobs.

This came during His Excellency’s participation in a virtual session through video conference entitled "Will artificial intelligence take your jobs?" as part of the "Tawteen TALKS " initiative organized by the MOHRE, with the participation and attendance of about 1650 male and female citizens of the secondary and university levels as well as parents, and young job seekers.

During the session, Omar Sultan Al Olama highlighted several national programs and initiatives launched by the UAE government to expand the use of artificial intelligence tools and applications in various vital sectors and plans to enhance the UAE's global position in the artificial intelligence sector, to contribute to achieving the goals of its national strategies in the coming years.

Al Olama highlighted the importance of youth awareness of the future equation, which is based on employing artificial intelligence and future planning, by providing educational and training opportunities and introducing them to the future job market.

He said that the job market is witnessing remarkable and rapid development, as the demand for traditional jobs has decreased significantly compared to new jobs that depend on artificial intelligence and modern technology, which requires a review of personal development plans, the acquisition of new skills and the enhancement of practical experiences in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution in The world, calling on the youth to continue learning based on the culture of research and developing innovative solutions in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics to meet the challenges of the future.

His Excellency touched on jobs that are most in-demand in the future, stressing that the job market in the UAE in particular and in the world will depend on jobs that require artificial intelligence and programming skills, which are among the most growing sectors in the world.

He emphasized the importance of the role of national and international universities in the country in the development of specialized educational curricula in the artificial intelligence sector, such as Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence, New York University Abu Dhabi, Khalifa University, and the American University of Sharjah.

His Excellency concluded the session by sharing with the audience a glimpse of his personal experience in national service, and the feelings of loyalty to the homeland this experience entrench, reviewing the most prominent lessons and situations that he went through that contributed to developing his personality, experience, and expertise.

“Tawteen TALKS” is a MOHRE initiative aimed at educating and guiding students and job seekers on the importance of working in the private sector, and empowering them with the skills to meet the requirements and needs of the job market in the country.
