Objective:
MoHRE launched a new basic health insurance package, in an effort to provide accessible and comprehensive health coverage for private-sector workers and domestic workers in the emirates of Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah, effective from 1 January 2025.
This initiative forms part of the UAE Government's commitment to enhancing quality of life and health insurance for workers, while ensuring employers comply with their obligation to provide health insurance when issuing or renewing residency permits. Employers can subscribe to the package through the 'Dubai Care' platform, approved insurance companies' own websites and smart applications, or at select Business Service Centres approved by the Ministry.
Target Group:
• Private-sector workers
• Domestic workers (household workers, such as maids, drivers, cooks, etc.)
Decision Making:
MoHRE continuously evaluates the impact of the newly introduced basic health insurance package by reviewing customer feedback and examining the results from on-the-ground implementation, with the aim of boosting the system's effectiveness and ensuring its alignment with labour market needs.
This process helps support development-related decisions focused on improving the quality of healthcare services and facilitating access to them, which strengthens security and sustainability in the work environment, embodying the Ministry's commitment to providing highly efficient and transparent government services.
