“80060 Council” highlights types, procedures and terms of work permits

The Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratization (MoHRE) organized its “80060 Council” in collaboration with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), to highlight types, procedures, specifications and terms of work permits.

The initiative was launched by the Ministry to connect with its partners in the private sector through monthly meetings with members and representatives of commerce chambers across the UAE. 80060 Council” aims to update MoHRE’s partners about its latest policies, programs and regulations, and get their feedback.

Held at SCCI’s headquarters in Sharjah, the meeting was attended by Dr. Omar Al Nuaimi, Deputy Undersecretary of Communications and International Affairs; Aisha Bel Harfia, Assistant Undersecretary of Domestic Workers Affairs, Sheikh Majid Faisal Khalid Al Qasemi, First Vice Chairman; Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadem, Chairman of Human Resources Department; Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of the Labour Standards Development Authority (LSDA) in Sharjah; and Mohammed Ahmed Amin, Assistant Director-General of SCCI.

The meeting was also attended by members of the board pf SCCI, along with representatives of private companies and establishments.

During the event, Dr. Al Nuaimi stressed the Ministry’s commitment to communicate business owners in order to enhance transparency and strategic partnerships between the two parties.

“The ‘80060 Council’ comes in line with directives of His Excellency Nasser bin Thani Al Hameli, Minister of Human Resources & Emiratization, regarding the opening of a direct line of communications with its partners in the private sector. The move also supports Emiratization initiatives, while enabling UAE talents to play an active role in the private sector.

“In addition, the initiative aims to achieve business owners’ needs and requirements, while ensuring the provision of excellent service to the Ministry’s customers,” said Dr. Al Nuaimi.

Bel Harfia explained that Ministry is keen on adding more flexibility to the UAE job market, while responding to business owners’ needs, by issuing 10 different types of work permits, to help them select the ones that meet their requirements.

She stressed the Ministry’s keenness to provide distinguished services that meet its customers’ expectations and ensure their happiness, by making its services available through a number of channels, including the processes in which work permits are issued.

During the meeting, Salim El Yasi, Director of e-Services Department at MoHRE, showcased the different types of work permits issued by MoHRE, covering both workers from inside and outside the country. He also gave an overview of the terms and conditions for issuing each type.

In-country work permits include those issued to individuals who reside in the UAE on their parents’ visa; changing place of employment, part-time, GCC nationals, underage, training or students, temporary and period-specific permits.

For workers coming from outside the country, the Ministry issues two types of permits, normal and assignment work permits.

Mohammed Ahmed Amin, Assistant Director-General of SCCI, welcomed the hosting of the “80060 Council”, adding that it comes as part of the Chamber’s strategic partnership with the Ministry to better serve Sharjah’s business community and raise private companies’ awareness regarding MoHRE’s policies and regulations, as well as its other projects and procedures that concern UAE nationals, business owners and laborers.

He also praised the Ministry’s commitment to communicating with the private sector in the emirate, by establishing responsible dialogue and continuous talks about matters that pertain to the UAE job market, in an effort to secure the interests of business owners and workers, while providing innovative services to the Ministry’s customers.

Meanwhile, participants interacted positively with the topics discussed during the event. They also inquired about part-time work permits, in addition to the progress of the insurance against disruptions project.
