18,000 Emiratis to be qualified for jobs in targeted sectors within 3 years

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) and the Higher Colleges of Technology have signed a memorandum of co-operation for 18,000 Emiratis to be qualified for jobs within the next three years through the ‘National Training Portal’.

The portal aims to enable Emiratis to keep up with the labor market’s requirements and needs and be employed in targeted sectors in line with the package of Emiratisation decisions issued recently by the Cabinet.

H.E. Nasser Bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Chairman of the Tawteen Committee, valued His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s support for the integrated efforts to implement the package of Emiratisation decisions as he presided over the committee formed to follow up and implement the ‘New Season Messages’, adding that these decisions culminated in the establishment of the ‘National Training Portal’, which contributes significantly to supplying the labor market with trained and highly Emiratis.

“The portal is an innovative platform to enable Emiratis to take up the jobs available in the labor market. The MOHRE has been keen on developing its partnership with the Higher Colleges of Technology in order to design and implement programs for the national human resources to be trained and qualified as required by the jobs offered by the establishments and companies operating in the targeted sectors, particularly in light of a competitive work environment that requires self-assertion, competence and excellence in performing the required job tasks”, Al Hamli said.

Al Hamli called on male and female Emiratis to take advantage of the support provided by the ‘National Training Portal’ for them to be able to achieve their career aspirations.

The ‘National Training Portal’ enables Emirati jobseekers interested in developing their skills and Emiratis wishing to change their careers to view all specialized training courses and programs, choose what suits their qualifications and job aspirations. They can register subsequently through the website aetraining.ae to participate in the chosen program using a specific mechanism.

The portal offers miscellaneous specialized training programs and diplomas and other skill-based programs in line with the job requirements. These programs cover such fields as human resources, retail, sales, insurance, real estate, property management, IT, financial and banking services, customer service, public relations, airport services and support services.

The portal also offers technical programs in such fields as aircraft maintenance, electrical and mechanical engineering, oil and gas.

The offered programs take 3-6 months after which a trainee is awarded a certificate issued by MOHRE-accredited training centers.

The signing ceremony for the memorandum of co-operation was held recently in the MOHRE and was attended by Al Hamli, members and representatives of members of the Tawteen Committee, which includes the general secretaries of the UAE executive councils.

The memo was signed by Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi, Director of Higher Colleges of Technology, and Ahmed Youssef Ahmed Al Nasser, Assistant Undersecretary for National Human Resources Development.
