His Excellency Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National Service and Reserve Authority (NSR), and His Excellency Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources & Emiratisation, honoured the companies which produced the best response to the initiative, launched last November 2018, on fast-tracking the employment of national service recruits by providing 1000 job opportunities in companies registered with the UAE Armed Forces.
The ceremony took place in a meeting organised by MoHRE today (Wednesday) at the Armed Forces Officers Club in the presence of representatives from several companies. The meeting dealt with the latest developments in this initiative and the endeavors undertaken to create more job opportunities.
It stressed the “importance of Emiratisation as a strategic national goal which receives the attention, support as well as follow up of the UAE’s wise leadership. This requires joining the efforts of national parties and promoting partnerships between the public sector and the private sector in order to achieve the goals of Emiratisation as per the national agenda of UAE Vision 2021”
The meeting further highlighted the need “to continue the implementation of the initiative particularly by the constant organisation of open days for employment, in view of their effectiveness in attracting national service recruits to job opportunities at the companies targeted by the initiative”.
The meeting honoured the companies which produced the best response to the initiative on accelerating the employment of national service recruits. The ceremony celebrated companies that provided the largest number of job vacancies such as Emirates Advanced Research and Technology Holding (EARTH), Global Aerospace Logistics (GAL), Etimad Holding, and Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries. Awards were also given to the companies which conducted the biggest number of job interviews during the open days for employment including: International Golden Group (IGG), Etimad Holding, Emirates Advanced Research and Technology Holding (EARTH) as well as the companies that provided the biggest number of job opportunities: Emirates Response Services (ERS), Noor Alain Cleaning Services Est, GAL Air Navigation Services, Al Bahiya Trading and Services Est., and Gargash Enterprises.
Alongside the meeting, His Excellency Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National Service and Reserve Authority, and His Excellency Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources & Emiratisation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between NSR and MoHRE on cooperation in implementing the “TAWTEEN 360” initiative and government accelerators. The MoU was signed in the presence of HE Mohammed bin Ahmad Al Bawardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs.
The MoU aims at enhancing partnership between NSR and MoHRE in order to develop the capacities and competencies of national human resources and provide them with career guidance according to the current and future labour market needs. It also aims at increasing the participation of male and female nationals in the private sector so as to lead the knowledge-based competitive economy and achieve the goals of the national agenda 2021.
The MoU identified several areas of cooperation including workshops on career guidance in partnership with the private sector with the purpose of amalgamating the efforts of NSR and MoHRE to improve the career prospects of national service recruits and educate them about the importance of working in the private sector. Such workshops also aim to inform national service recruits about different professions and help them choose their specialisations and professions in line with their interests and aptitudes.
The MoU deals also with the cooperation in the “TAWTEEN 360” forum which aims at creating an integrated vital platform for youths under 30. This platform is based on four major pillars such as career guidance which is concerned with providing guidance to national service recruits and educating them about the tools needed to choose their career; and training in workshops accredited by global companies on labour market skills, entrepreneurship and self-employment.
Additionally, the MoU seeks to create awareness among national service recruits and motivate them by organising youth sessions which present the success stories of creative national cadres, give lectures about the concepts of field training, and link participants with training opportunities in the labour market by offering them internships and summer job opportunities. These sessions also highlight the programmes of national institutions which promote the goals of Emiratisation and provide information about the job fairs on future careers and the centres of entrepreneurial enterprises, in cooperation with the private sector and strategic partners.
