Al Hamli: Workers in various locations are active contributors to the development of a nation of tolerance and happiness

His Excellency thanked the various workers in the UAE for their efforts that contribute to elevating and building a nation of tolerance and happiness under the wise leadership which strengthened in us humanitarian values and principles and acceptance of others so that our nation becomes a model of coexistence among all members of our multicultural society. 

also hailed the contributions of workers in various workplaces to enhancing the competitiveness of the country and ranking in top places in many of the world’s indexes related to the labour market, the most important of which is low labour disputes index.

This came during a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization on Wednesday on the occasion of International Workers ‘Day in the presence of senior officials of the Ministry, a number of national entrepreneurs and representatives of companies in the ministry’s initiatives to promote workers’ happiness.

Speaking at the ceremony, HE Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli said “As we celebrate, along with the world, the International Workers’ Day, we are thrilled and proud at the same time of the announcement of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, that for the eighth consecutive year, the United Arab Emirates is seen by young Arabs as a model nation and the number one country to work and live in according to the findings from the ASDA’A BCW Arab Youth Survey which included 15 Arab states. This reaffirms that the UAE, thanks to the wise policy of our leadership, is moving steadily and confidently in implementing its vision and comprehensive strategic development plans.
 
He stressed “the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization continues to implement its strategic plan and vision for labour market to be enabling for nationals, attractive for competencies and global expertise through a package of policies and programs and innovative initiatives through which the ministry contributes, within the government efforts, in achieving the targets of the national agenda to the UAE Vision 2021.
    
In his speech, he reviewed a package of initiatives targeting workers, which were implemented by the ministry in previous stages, notably the insurance system to provide full protection for workers’ salaries and entitlements and a part-time contract that allows the highest talents and skills of workers to work with more than one employer at the same time as well as the system of partnerships with the private sector to provide excellent services including service centers “Tawjeeh” which provide a package of awareness services, as well as "Tawafuq” centers that provide support to workers in case of labour disputes between with employers.
    
His Excellency praised the efforts of the Ministry’s partners, especially those who contribute to supporting the initiatives that aim to make workers in the country happy wherever they are.
 
HE Mr. Nasser Bin Thani Al Hamli honored Maysa Salem Al Ameri, who has been working since 2007 as a health and safety officer in one of the private sector companies specialized in the construction sector and Sultan Hilal Al Suwaidi, the oldest dealer with the Ministry as well as Mohammed Yousuf Asarbali the oldest assistant worker nationwide.

The award ceremony included the winning companies in the Happiest Business Environment Competition namely: Al Naboodah Engineering, Securitec and Industrial Oxide Company, as well as Schlumberger Middle East for winning the best happiness initiative as well as honoring the school students winners of the “Reward them for their Excellence” initiative which included Shama Al Dhaheri, Madia Al Muhairbi and Latifa ALdhanhani.

The awards include the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Tolerance, the Ministry of Happiness, the National Bonds, the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (“du”)  the Higher Corporation for Industrial Zones, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Aldar Properties, Dubai Airport, Abu Dhabi Cricket Club, Dubai Municipality, Expo 2020 and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB).
 
The ceremony was marked by the official launch of the “Tharaa” Labour Saving Initiative in cooperation between the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and National Bonds.
 
The initiative comes within the framework of the “Worker’s Happiness Program” initiative implemented by the Ministry in cooperation with the National Program for Happiness and Positive

The “Tharaa” initiative aims to promote the principle of saving for a safe and happy future for workers, by saving a fixed monthly amount determined by the worker for the duration of his stay in the country or as long as he wishes to continue.

The initiative includes financial prizes of up to AED 40 million. It also offers a package of annual benefits and returns as well as financial support and awards in the regular raffle draws of the National Bonds, which allows them to win several prizes, including the one million dirham prize to become rich and have a happy future for them and their families

The labour savings initiative “Tharaa” is available in service centers “Tawjeeh” run by the private sector with national cadres under a partnership with the Ministry, which oversees the work of these centers
